Nakuru County

Nakuru is a cosmopolitan county situated in the former Rift Valley and one of the largest counties in Kenya. The town of Nakuru is the third largest urban centre in the country and the Nakuru County’s administrative capital, as well as the capital of the former Rift Valley Province. The county is made up of 11 constituencies.

Agriculture is the mainstay of the county’s economy, with food crops, cash crops, dairy and beef products commonly produced in the area. Tourism also contributes significantly to the wealth of the county, which is famous for the flamingos of Lake Nakuru and the hippopotamuses of Lake Naivasha, together with a wide variety of animal and bird life. Dense forests cover much of the county. The town of Naivasha is another popular tourist destination due to its close proximity to Hell’s Gate National Park, Longonot National Park and Mount Longonot.
