Laikipia County

Laikipia is a county situated on the equator. It is made up of three constituencies: Laikipia West, Laikipia East and Laikipia North. Nanyuki Town is the capital of the county. The county’s main economic sector is agriculture, with most people engaging in crop farming or animal rearing. Vast open ranches supply beef and dairy products to the area.

The scenic Laikipia plains stretch from the Great Rift Valley to the northern rangelands covered by open grasslands, basalt hills and cedar forests, forming part of the Ewaso ecosystem. Private wildlife conservation areas and a wide variety of wildlife make Laikipia County a popular destination among tourists.
