Homa Bay County

Homa Bay County is located south of Kismu County sharing its westerly border with Lake Victoria. Homa Bay, a port town is the administrative capital of the county. Given the favourable climatic conditions and access to Lake Victoria, agriculture and fishing are the main economic activities, with main crops including maize, sorghum, ground nut, millet and potatoes. Tourism is also an important economic sector for the county, the two major attractions including Ruma National Park which has been dubbed the ‘last retreat of the Roan Antelope’, as well as Mount Homa which is one of the few carbonatite volcanoes in the world.
